Agriculture is vital to the Nebraska economy. I married a Nebraskan. When I married a Nebraskan, I was gifted a whole new family. My Nebraska family is huge! It’s awesome. My husband’s grandparents still own farmland near Hampton. I’m never going to be one of those fake politicians, pretending that I farm by posing for photo ops on someone else’s farm. I do, however, understand how important agriculture is to this State. It’s part of who we are. It’s part of my family. I promise to continue to listen to family farmers. I support the elimination of tax shelters which grant a competitive advantage to large corporate farms over family farmers. I understand the importance of the federal crop insurance and Farm Safety Net programs. I supporting trying to raise the prices of agricultural commodities by advocating for Country of Origin Labeling for food produced in the United States and traded abroad. I would also like to open up the industrial hemp industry to the family farmer, so Nebraskans may profit from this billion dollar industry.
